The Software Developer Level 4 Apprenticeship is suitable for a number of different job titles. These include Application Developer, Mobile Application Developer, Software Developer and Web Developer.
Learners who complete the Software Developer Level 4 Apprenticeship will learn how to do the following:
The Software Developer Level 4 Apprenticeship takes approximately 24 months to complete.
The Software Developer Level 4 Apprenticeship is suitable for a number of different job titles. These include Application Developer, Mobile Application Developer, Software Developer and Web Developer. Gaining the Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship also enables learners to work in a variety of sectors including Financial Services, Gaming, Retail and Transport.
Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.
The general purpose of a Software Developer is to understand the client's requirements as provided in design specification, before testing high-quality code solutions to provide the ideal outcome. Software Developers often have to develop computer applications and the underlying systems that run devices or control networks.
The Software Developer Level 4 Apprenticeship will help learners develop the knowledge and skills they need to further progress in their career. The apprenticeship training will allow learners to become efficient at developing software solutions across the full software development life cycle including research and development, through to continuous improvement and finally retiring the product or service.
Functional skills are a compulsory requirement for all apprentices who do not hold a GSCE or equivalent qualification in English or Maths.
Learners who have not achieved a pass at Level 2, a ‘C’ grade or grade 4 at GCSE (or equivalent) will need to enrol on and complete the relevant functional skills qualification to achieve their apprenticeship. This is a government requirement.
